About this site
iGen Payments is an editorial site that publishes articles about payments and related topics. The site is hosted on WordPress. Reader accounts are not offered and comments are generally closed. We do not run ads, affiliate tracking, newsletters, or on-site analytics.
Information we receive
For most visitors, we receive very little personal information. We do not use contact forms and we do not take orders or payments on this site.
The information that reaches us comes in three ways:
- Server and CDN logs. Our hosting and caching/CDN layers automatically record technical logs when you load a page. These logs typically include your IP address, the pages requested, date and time of the request, referrer information if provided by your browser, and your browser/OS user agent. This is standard for operating a website and protecting it from abuse.
- Email you send us. If you write to one of our published addresses (for example [email protected] or [email protected]), we receive the contents of your message and the headers supplied by your email service, such as your email address and sending IP as provided by your provider.
- Site administration. WordPress sets session cookies for the single registered site operator to enable secure login and publishing. Visitor accounts are not available.
Cookies and similar technologies
We keep cookie use to a minimum. WordPress sets strictly necessary cookies for logged-in administrators. Visitors who do not log in should not receive cookies from us other than those that may be required by the hosting or caching/CDN layer to deliver the site reliably and securely. We do not use analytics, advertising, or affiliate cookies.
How we use the information
We use server and CDN logs to operate the site, measure basic availability, troubleshoot errors, and protect against spam, fraud, and abuse.
We use the information in emails you send to respond to your request, route it to the right editor, and keep a record of our correspondence where appropriate.
Administrative cookies are used only to maintain secure sessions for the site operator.
How long we keep it
Server and CDN logs are retained for the period necessary to operate the service and investigate security issues, then are deleted or anonymized according to our hosting provider’s standard rotation practices.
Emails and related correspondence are kept as long as needed for the matter you raised and our editorial recordkeeping, then archived or deleted.
Who can see it
We do not sell your personal information. Access is limited to our small editorial team and the service providers that help us run this site. Those providers may include website hosting, caching/CDN, email, backup, and error monitoring services. They process information on our behalf under their terms and applicable law. We may disclose information if required to comply with law, a valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users and the site.
Where information is processed
Our hosting, CDN, and email systems may be located in multiple countries. By visiting the site or contacting us, your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions that may not offer the same level of data protection as your home country. We handle such transfers in line with applicable law and use reputable providers.
Your choices and rights
You can choose not to email us, in which case we will not receive your contact details. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, though blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect site delivery.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to ask us to delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to receive a portable copy. You also may have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
